Sam & Melissa's Fall Garden Wedding in Tahoe City

Sam and Melissa traveled all the way from Southern California to Tahoe City for their destination wedding. The beautiful fall colors made it well worth the trip. To top it off Tahoe Tree Company has a gorgeous garden with pristine views in every direction you look. We loved all the personal touches from the mason jars with flowers to the bird-shaped salt and pepper shakers. Sam & Melissa collect ornaments from their travels so they decided to give all their guests a Lake Tahoe ornament with a message on the back thanking them for their attendance. To go with the garden theme, the seating assignments were arranged in flower pots. Friends and family had a chance to do some finger painting, in lieu of a guestbook the newlyweds had everyone leave their finger print on a painted tree.

Joe & Missy's Wedding in Kauai, Hawaii

Seven years ago today, we were standing on the beach of the Na Pali Cost in Kauai, Hawaii with Joe and Missy for their intimate ceremony. Back in 2004, shooting on film was the industry standard for photographing weddings. Armed with a Mamiya RZ67 medium format camera and a Nikon F3 35mm camera we shot on Kodak Portra 160 Film. Images were then scanned with an epson film scanner and edited in photoshop to create the looks you see below.

Val & Sasha's Wedding at Arden Hills Resort

Val & Sasha had their fairytale inspired wedding at Arden Hills Resort & Spa in Sacramento, CA. The Villas at Arden Hills are fit for a Princess. This world-class Tuscan-style bed and breakfast, features a sweeping iron and marble staircase, wood beam ceilings, royal arched doorways, large mirrors, and stone fireplaces in every room! Sasha looked stunning in her Disney Princess taffeta gown featuring multiple layers of dreamy gossamer tulle. The embroidered lace and crystal beaded bodice with rose detail add an elegant touch. She even had glass slippers to complete the look! The ceremony featured songs from different Disney movies and every table at the reception had its own Disney Princess (and her Prince) center piece on a turntable, spinning for all to enjoy. After Val & Sasha danced their first dance as husband and wife (a classic waltz) Sasha changed into another gown so she could more freely enjoy the rest of her romantic day.

John & Jennifer's Turlock Wedding

We had so much fun on John and Jennifer's engagement shoot back in December we knew that their wedding would not disappoint. The day started off at John's parents house with pictures in front of the corn field with the guys and his family. We then headed over to Jennifer's parents house for portraits of with her family and bridesmaids. The ceremony followed at Sacred Heart in Turlock, this was one of the most important parts of the day for John and Jennifer. Jennifer looked stunning coming down the aisle to the happiest man on the planet! We finished up at the church with family pictures of everyone in front of the altar. Hilmar Cheese was our next stop for pictures of the bridal party after which we headed over to the Grange Hall. The hall was decorated in a nature theme with some great personal touches like the Mr. and Mrs. signs hanging by their seats, twigs and candles running down guests tables, a photo tree of the newlyweds, and even bunny slippers for Jen to rest her feet.

Michael & Maria's Wedding in Modesto, Ca.

Michael & Maria got married at Del Rio Vista Garden. This location features a two level garden complete with waterfall into a koi pond, large tented dance floor, beautiful view of the Stanislaus River, and even a Cinderella style carriage. The happy couple centered their wedding around family and had all relatives wear their color...hot pink. After the ceremony, everyone enjoyed a wonderful Mexican dinner. If you like sweets, then you would have loved this wedding! Not only was there the cake that the newlyweds cut, there were also multiple flavors of cupcakes, fruit parfaits, and a candy bar.

Scott & Lindsay's Rustic Themed Wedding at The Reata in Oakdale

We always get excited when we find out we will be photographing a wedding at The Reata in Oakdale, Ca. Everywhere you look is another photo opportunity. This was especially true for Scott & Lindsay's rustic themed wedding. From the tree branches on tables, to the center pieces and the tree trunks they were sitting on, to the favors on everyone's plates; chocolate candies in birds nests. Lindsay looked beautiful in her vintage inspired ivory lace dress with touches of pink embroidery. To add to the theme, all the bridesmaids wore neutral tones of brown and ivory. The ceremony was short but sweet. When they were announced husband and wife, it was easy to see how happy and in love they are. When entering the reception, the newlyweds went straight into their first dance, which was followed by dinner. The dinner menu included; mixed field greens, chef's renowned sauteed mushrooms, sesame chicken, and tri-tip (roasted to perfection). Children really enjoyed the table full of cup cakes labeled "Just for Kids". After dinner Lem from L.A. DJ kept the dance floor packed. Grandparents even got in on the action.
